3rd Moose!

3rd Moose!

I can't believe it. I always wanted to see a moose and here we're seeing our third on this trip. This one stood on the road for a while, gnawing at some brush on edge and then stepping off the road. These animals are huge. We suddenly had thoughts of, 'what do we do if we run into one while hiking?'.

After a morning of home made waffles, we went hiking in Jaques Cartier park on a ~5km trail. The book said it was difficult but it was just a bunch of steps. We're hoping to try the very diffcult next. The park is huge with lots of activities including hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking and canoe portaging. The canoeing was exciting to see so we're already making plans to do it this summer. We bought annual passes for this park so that we can come back anytime we like and just show our cards to get in.
Parks in Quebec seem to be slightly different than BC. You don't have to pay to park but you have to pay to get in - except at some popular beaches where parking costs more. Camping is also more expensive here so we're hoping to find some free spots or just hike in off the road somewhere.
