While driving to this spot on Saturday, you wouldn't believe that there could be a frozen pond around. The sun was shining and the sky was clear. Lucky for Erin's grandparents, they have a pond that's in the shade most of the day. It's only a few feet deep in areas and the ice was about 3 inches thick. We played hockey with 2 youngsters. Wow, I really miss drop-in hockey. Quebec should have some great skating locations.

Another morning, another struggle to wake up
We have decided that Wednesdays are not appropriate for work and therefore are taking them off - forever.
We're teetering over which car to take across the country. White Swan or Foxxy. We may end up selling White Swan before we leave. Foxxy is pretty sweet to drive, she's just missing the airbags and abs brakes, oh and 4wd.

Odyssey in the mail
We sent our applications for the Odyssey program yesterday. The program goal is to send people to "lead language activities - all in English! - in an elementary or secondary classroom to support the classroom teacher". Our goal would be to do this in Quebec. Sounds like fun!

Erin, Darrin, Mabel and Aaron
Yes we're an exciting bunch when we're chowing down on a mountain of pancakes. We all managed to get up by 10am which was a miracle considering that we went to bed at 2am. We're just cleaning up and about to head out for a canoe & kayak trip to Link Island which is straight across from my parents place on Gabriola.

Aaron meet Erin
The three of us went for a walk around Swan Lake after work today. Erin had just awoken from a few hours of sleep. Quite the timezone turnaround! For dinner we made Phad Thai and absolutely stuffed ourselves. I'm going to explode. Tune in next time to see if I do.

Sandcut Beach in the evening
This is Sandcut beach. It's the first place short bean and I went camping. Fresh water pours over rocks into the ocean making a small waterfall. The water is freezing but good for a facewash. We had to clear a spot for the tent by pulling bunches of grass and moving sticks. The spots are pre-set mostly. We saw a few other people but they just walked by a few times, grazing the beach.
Here we go!
This is it. The start of our adventures. Aren't we having fun! We just finished eating fresh won-ton noodles with some yummy coconut curry, stir-fried purple cabbage and fried zucchini. Mabel and I saw Aaron Prescott today, the first time since they got back. Pretty exciting! She's coming over tomorrow for dinner. Darrin is up in Nanaimo meeting his parents (who apparently were late and missed him at the airport.. not a surprise to them). I'll try to get a photo tomorrow of the three of us or two of them.
