Big chair or little people?

Big chair or little people?

The smell of paint is in the air. We're almost done painting the apartment. The bedroom and bathroom are left to do. Funds are tight as we go to school and have the odd job here and there. Definitely looking forward to working in September. I'm starting to look into taking some specialized courses by distance-ed if possible for working in hospitals. I want to work in the I.T. area in hospitals but I'm not sure exactly what area yet. I definitely want to specialize on a few topics, specific to hospitals.
The festival on Rue St. Jean was on the weekend and we managed to get some wicked deals at it. I bought 3 shirts and a pair of shorts for $30. Some restaurants and stores laid out grass in front of their stores like a lawn.
We found a new hiking spot part way to Jacques-Cartier which is free to hike at. Lots of people go there to boulder climb (bouldering). Climbing is pretty popular here.
This chair in the picture is from our last trip to Montreal.

Windsurfing

When we first talked about going to Quebec, I was really excited to hear how popular windsurfing is here. Well we finally made it out onto the water last weekend for a wickedly hot day with just the right amount of wind. This is a "Starboard", a super fattie with lots of float and balance. It's a little underpowered by this 3.9 meter sail but it's great for beginners. Hopefully we'll take it out this weekend with a 4 or 5 meter sail. I missed a few spots on my back with the sunscreen and got a little toasty - my first time this trip. I sure have to be careful. The UV rating yesterday was 9. The highest possible UV rating is 10.

Hannah, my friend.

On July 10th 2005, Hannah fell asleep and didn't wake up. Hannah was over 18 and a half years old. She was half English sheep dog and half Border Collie. She was brought into the family when I was 10 years old, very close to my birthday. I always celebrated my birthday as if it was also hers, giving her giant rawhide bones, treats in a bag she had to find and sometimes something that squeaked or bounced. It's pretty hard losing someone who has been by my side for the greater half of my life. I saw her hair go from a fuzzy black chin to long shaggy grey beard.

Hannah taught our younger pup, Jasper, everything she knew and so thankfully her playfullness, habits and pizza stealing skills live on. Hannah was my oldest friend. I miss her a lot. Thanks to everyone who has been so nice to her in the past.

Just the Two of Us

Menage a deux! Aaron & I have our own home. We just moved into a new place on July 1st on the main street of Quebec City. We live in a little one bedroom apartment full of character. We haven't been able to be in touch with anyone in the past week because we haven't had any internet or phone access. Will be back in full force by the end of the week though. Pictures of our new home to follow.
