HAPPY BIRTHDAY MABEL!

birthday breakfast

Awoken at the ungodly hour of 9:30am, Mabel sat down to some Kamut waffles with whipcream, strawberries, maple syrup and orange juice. When I tried to sneak a picture, she gave me a funny face, and I hope it sticks ;-) The original plan was to go canoeing for 6 hours down the Jacques-Cartier river but we had lightening storms three times today so we held off. We would have had to leave at 6:30am. We ended up going for walk and then jumping into a river on the way home to cool down. We're just about to head out for dinner and get a movie.

This is the latest form of wildlife to add to our list. Fontenac park is full of rabbits, really big ones.

Last weekend we went camping at Frontenac Parc, about 2.5 hours SE of Quebec city. We're starving for some free wilderness in Quebec. All of the parks are run by the province and cost $$ to get in and go to the beaches. It's really hard to find any free places to go hiking. People have tole me that we're very spoiled in BC by BC Parks and now we can see it. Frontenac Parc was one of the best parks that we have been to so far out here. It's on a big lake with lots of camping by the water and a nice picnic/beach area. We spent the entire day at the beach swimming, throwing around the frisbee and relaxing. Believe it or not, I'm starting to get a tan without even trying.
Mabel is tutoring a math student right now 2-3 times a week when not in school. I'm gardening and doing some construction for a nice lady in Sillery after school. We finish everything at 5:00 and have the rest of the day to hang out in the sun.
